Hello.
How are you?
I know, it’s been a long time…
I’ve missed this place!
Hello everyone. I can’t believe how much my life has changed
in the past two years. This week Spencer and I celebrated our 2 year
anniversary, and it made me incredibly nostalgic. Over the course of only two
years…
♥ In January 2011 I started a job as a National Training
Manager. I traveled 45 weeks out of the year to places all over the country. I
had an amazing team that I could call on the phone, but I was essentially alone.
I traveled to…
Portland, Oregon (LOVED IT)
Sacramento, California (gorgeous roses)
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (boring..)
San Antonio, Texas (Fun in the sun!)
Dallas, Texas (LOVE Dallas... Fort Worth? Not as much)
Midland, Texas (oil town)
El Paso, Texas (Awesome outlet malls)
Houston, Texas (Huge city... I got lost a lot!)
Harlingen, Texas (beachy fun)
Corpus Christi, Texas(I was in Texas a LOT) (so pretty!)
New Orleans, Louisiana (mmmm gumbo. Such a fun city!)
Bentonville, Arkansas (Gorgeous rocky cliffs)
Miami, Florida (Hot. Lots of traffic... Good sushi!)
Denver, Colorado (Bustling and comfortable)
Elizabeth, Colorado (Breathtaking nature)
Omaha, Nebraska (Truckers and Cabela's)
Chicago, Illinois (big city, good food, lots of traffic)
Memphis, Tennessee (Such a fun place to visit)
...to name a few...
♥ In October of 2011 I went on vacation to Portland Oregon with
Spencer to celebrate his birthday/Our 1 year anniversary. We had an amazing time and fell in love with the city. I hope we can go back again sometime. We also ate the top tier of our wedding cake, and it was moist and delicious still! A year after being frozen! (My sister-in-law can bake!)
♥ In May of 2012 I was laid off from my job, along with my
entire team… while on the road. Yes, I had to travel home AFTER being laid off.
I relaxed at home for a few months and snuggled with my puppies and husband. I
missed them on the road!
♥ In June I found a new job with a law firm! I am a marketing
coordinator and I get to plan events, do photography and graphic design and
write! I love it here and was just told that I will be responsible for the new
Denver office! I get to travel there once a month!
♥ In August my grandma got sick….
♥ My sister found out she was pregnant with baby #2. YAY!
♥ Then my grandmother was diagnosed with lung cancer that was “inoperable.”
That same week Spencer got into an accident and totaled his car. This happened
on the same night that I went back to school for the fall semester…
♥ At the end of August my Grandma went into the hospital with
a fever. While there she met a doctor who thought he could get the tumor out
surgically.
♥ September was a month of stress and pain. She had two very
invasive surgeries and had an entire lung removed. She came out of it and said,
“I
beat the devil!” …We couldn’t believe it, but my 80 year old grandmother
was free of cancer!
♥ After a few weeks of recovery she went to a nursing home, a
short step away from being able to come home to us.
♥ Spencer and I bought a new car! We purchased a pretty new
CX5 from Mazda! Our eventual “Family car”. We visited my grandma that night to
show it to her. We also showed her the very first sonogram picture of my soon-to-be
niece or nephew. She was smiling, joking and telling us all about how she was
just going to walk right out of there.
♥ The next day my mom visited her. Something wasn’t right… she
was rushed to the hospital and over the course of the next 10 hours her body
entirely gave out on her. By the time my mom called and Spencer and I got to
the hospital she had crashed twice and been resuscitated. She never woke-up,
but I held her hand, kissed her and told her I loved her. The images of that
day are never going to leave me….
2 years ago I never would have imagined any of this. My life
really is great. I have an amazing husband, I have adorable little pups and I
have a job that I like going out to each morning. I never would have thought
that I would lose my grandmother, something I can’t even process and often find
myself grieving about. My heart just hurts. I miss her. I know its naïve to say
that I didn’t think she would ever die…. But she had so much fire in that I
really thought she would be around at least 10 more years..
At the start of this month Spencer and I went to California
for vacation. We spent time together exploring the city, we walked all of the
big hills, I rolled my freaking ankle! We went to Muir woods, Sausalito, and
Alameada. We had great tacos, delicious crab and amazing macaroons. We escaped
for a bit and got to feel more than just grief.
It’s been two years…
And I love my husband
more than I ever thought possible.
I don't think I could have survived a lot of this without him...
