Be Kind.

Hello, my name is Lauren. Or Laurnie, here in the blogworld. I blog about myself (and other stuff) over at From Orange County to County Road. While Mrs. Schaub is away enjoying being married, I'm here to entertain the masses. Today, I will talk about
KINDNESS

"My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness." - Dalai Lama

Yesterday I read about kindness here and today I came across it here. Its fitting, because kindness has been on my mind lately. When I think about acts of kindness, I don't think its limited to just one meaning. Kindness is leaving a tip for your barista, buying a homeless man a cup of coffee, listening to a friend, and being supportive.

The last part is the meaning that Ive been thinking about in the past week or so. I will admit, I am guilty of sometimes being unkind. Not intentionally, but after the fact I have thought to myself, "I should have been nicer about that." Last night there was a discussion that I should have been more supportive about, and instead I was too quick to react and rude. All this week I have come across topics of conversation where I had no problem slipping into the role of gossiper and sharing my unnecessary two cents.

I believe that kindness can be like an airborne virus, even in the smallest of situations.

By saying that, I need to remember when someone calls on me to talk about a person or situation, I need to be kind and listen. I also need to remember to be kind about my opinions. Whether it be about the person having the conversation, or the person you are conversing about. Because sometimes you say things that you don't mean, and you have to ask yourself, "would I dare say this to that persons face?" Often times, the answer is no. Of course, unless its deserved.

So my new lesson in life, Be Kind, in all the ways you can. You'll feel better about yourself in the long run. Anger is just ugly.

Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you - not because they are nice, but because you are.  ~Author Unknown

Awesome awesome post. This is my religion too. There are so many things I'm not sure about. But I know with all of my heart that if live every day, with a kind heart, I will get this thing called life just right.
