Watching the minutes tick by...

Lately, I have felt restless. I can't relax, I can't entertain myself. I have this smothering and overwhelming feeling of complete and total boredom and too much time to think about things. I want to move and get our dog and have adventures together. I want to put things in their places. Figure out where the forks are going to go in the cabinets and organize the throwpillows. I want to lay on the deck listening to some good music and soaking in the rays. I want to sit outside with a glass of wine and look at the stars. I want to build things and paint things and make changes to create Spencer and I's home... but instead ...i'm just waiting. Waiting for the bank to call for a signature, a piece of paperwork needing extra information. Waiting to see photographs of our puppies development each week from the breeder, hating that she's not here already! I'm antsy, i'm impatient and I am so excited about the future that I want it all to be here right now!

Is there an editor in the house?

My aunt Karen sent me an e-mail with all of these in it. They are actual stories that appeared in newspapers! I laughed so hard i'm lucky I didn't pee myself!

The question was, "If you can talk to any animal, which animal would you talk to and what would you say?" My response was:

She's Escaping!

Watch out! Runaway puppy! (she's trying to come home to us!)

Duck Cake and Kennels

I made a blue duck cake this weekend and it was delish! Other than that we had a fabulous 3 day weekend filled with shopping for the new home, buying a kennel and accessories for our new puppy and spending some quality couch time together and spending time with family on sunday. We had wonderful bbq, ate the blue duck cake and saw Terminator Salvation...which was a pretty great movie, and set the scene for future sequels. I just wish it wasn't over already!

Snuggly microfiber towel for after bath time!

In other news, i'm really warming up to the name Shamu. :)

My first Semester

This day could not get any better! First, I get a puppy... which basically makes my heart soar to the moon and land without having to take a breath. And now to top it off I got an A in my first grad school class!!!! Everything just keep coming up beautiful!

Our New Puppy!

Spencer and I have finally found our puppy! After many upsetting moments with not getting called back and having the false pregnancy we were pretty upset. Now we realize it all was for a reason, and OUR puppy has finally arrived and we have found her! She is 2 weeks old, and living with her 4 sisters and mom right now in Arkansas. We will be getting weekly e-mails about her progress along with photos, and her breeder will meet us halfway in the beginning of July to pick her up! I can't wait to bring her home into our family to laugh, play and grow! Right now her name is Girl #5. Anyone have any name suggestions?

Singing it's praises

Today is just not a day to be here at work. The birds are singing and there is a slight breeze blowing through the trees. To make up for having to stay at work, Cristin and I went on our favorite lunchtime activity of a Starbucks run. The Ward Parkway Starbucks is by far my favorite starbucks out there! I accidentally ordered the wrong size of drink ( a tall...which really isn't tall at all!) and they made me a second one free of charge! :) They are always so friendly and a nice happy face to see on a day when the caffeine is much appreciated!

The Spin Cycle

Last Night I lost my breath and had a small little meltdown.
Spencer and I finally posted our apartment to Craigslist, and as I wrote the ad singing the praises of our home it made me really sad to leave such a great home. A home that Spencer and I have grown together and fallen further in love. I love our apartment and I love nights sitting on the couch with Spencer as the breeze blows in the windows.
Within a half hour we had 5 responses from people wanting to see our home! I didn't realize how quickly things would move and I got a little out of breath and my heart started beating a little bit faster.
I'm excited to move and I know that we are going to make this new home just as special, and even more so as we grow our little 4-legged family. I'm prepared, but at the same time i'm terrified and i'm excited and really...i'm just one big ball of rolled up emotions set on the spin cycle and turned into a sloshing soapy mess. But the plus side is, after all the spinning I should come out clean and ready for another day.

I have been CRAZY busy lately. Buying a new home, trying to finish all of the paperwork and making sure to exercise everyday can take a lot out of a person...but it's a good thing and each time I have accomplished something lately it has made me feel truly great and excited about being one step closer to our goals.
The work hasn't stopped at work either and I have had numerous photo assignments and editing work to do. One of the fun things I did recently was photograph new areas of Kansas City for the KC Annual Report. I guess years ago our CEO was talking to the Governor and in conversation the governor said he would like to start having a yearly annual report for the city of KC... to which our CEO responded, "We can do that for you!"
It takes a lot of work, but i'm proud to be with a company that is so hands-on and doesn't sit in the sidelines waiting for things to happen. Especially right now when working for a good company is imperitive to surviving the economy....but I digress... The city officials sent over photos that weren't very good for the report, so my boss decided it would be a great opportunity for me to get out there and flex my photographic muscles.
So, now I invite you to enjoy my small tour into some of the highlights of the new Downtown Kansas City....

The Power and Light District.

18th & Vine's new raingarden

Bartle Hall's new terrace and sculpture garden

The Federal Reserve Bank and new Money Museum

Liberty Memorial and the KC Skyline. :)

I think Downtown KC is really becoming quite beautiful...although, I don't love the traffic so much. Enjoy!

Our Home.

Spencer and I closed on our first home together this past weekend! We are in love with it and can't wait to move in! The first step will be to re-paint all of the walls. They are just screaming for a paint job!

Welcome to our new home!

The living room.

Our kitchen...with dishwasher!

The second family room/dining area

Our bedroom...I can't wait to repaint everything once we move in!

Spencer's future "man den"

Our beautiful new deck!

I can't wait to have a big party on the deck!
