Cake!

This weekend Spencer and I sat down and discussed the wedding a bit! The topic of the night...cake! We finally picked our 5th flavor, and I showed him photos of cakes I had been collecting over the past few months so that we could decide how we want them to all look....and here is what we came up with!

Vanilla-Lemon cake

The main "wedding cake" will be a lemon-vanilla modeled to kind of look like this. Although, we are still looking into wether we can have the chocolate fence be regular chocolate and if the flavors will clash. Lucky for me, we have Sarah (Spencer's sister) who is making the cakes and i'm sure will have some great ideas!

Mocha Chocolate Cake

Our first of the small cakes is an ode to my love of coffee. A mocha/coffee chocolate cake decorated similarly to the chocolate cake on the left. I just love the little curl hat on top. It looks lovely! This may use a vegan chocolate cake recipe that Sarah tried out last week for thekitchn.com.

Lemon Poppyseed Cake

Our third cake is a lemon-poppyseed cake. It's Spencer's favorite cake, and we're going to dress it up a little! Something along the lines of maybe doing a double layer with a fruit glaze in the center and some berries and powdered sugar on top? I'm leaving this in the hands of Spencer and Sarah. I don't know too much about poppyseed, but they both love it! I'm sure it will come out tasty and delicious!

White Chocolate Raspberry

The next cake we're still working out a little bit. We're thinking white chocolate with a raspberry filling and one of the above 2 decorating techniques. Right now we're leaning toward the confetti cake but it would be less tiers, maybe two? maybe even 1? and the confetti would be in pinks/oranges/ yellows. We do love the Tetris looking cake though too! Just not sure it will mesh as well with the others.

Chocolate-Caramel w/sea salts

Last, but not least, is a caramel chocolate cake. I actually really like the way this one looks. simple with clean knife strokes and sea salt sprinkled on top. I think it will all be delicious!

Or course, we haven' heard from Sarah yet on these lovely cakes, but i'm sure once we do she will have some great ideas to make it all blend together. :) I am so excited we finally made some decisions and are starting to see the wedding shaping us nicely! I can't wait to see what the end product will be!!!
