Happy National Ice Cream Day!!!

It's National Ice Cream Day!!!
If ever there was a reason to take a break from the studying
and journey down the street to my local Coldstone Creamery
this would be it!
mmmmm sweet sweet ice cream!
maybe even some cookies with your cream?
In honor of the day,
here are some fabulous facts about my favorite sweet treat!
Although the origin of ice cream is unclear in history books, the first ice cream parlor in America opened in New York City in 1776.

It takes the average person just about 50 licks to polish off a single scoop ice cream cone.

How many combinations are possible at Cold Stone? A Harvard doctoral student recently calculated that there are more than 11.5 million  possible Creation™ combinations. It would take someone more than 421 lifetimes to  try a new combination everyday, and that’s only if you started eating ice cream on the day you were born!

More ice cream is sold on Sunday than any other day of the week

Ice cream and related frozen desserts are consumed by more than 90%of households in the U.S.

♥  Total U.S. production of ice cream and related frozen desserts in 2004 amounted to about 1.58 billion gallons, translating to about 21 quarts per person! – Source: USDA

I know how i'll be relaxing tonight...
with my favorite cherry chocolate cheesecake creation from Coldstone!
(hmmm although they did just come out with a new key lime creation....the tough decisions!)

What is your favorite ice cream!?

You're killing me! I want ice cream so bad now. I love mint ice cream, flavors with chunks of chocolate, and depending on my mood, sometimes fruit. But usually I just like to be really unhealthy about it.

There's a Cold Stone near me, too, and I try to avoid it as much as possible! I think picking a favorite ice cream flavor is a nearly impossible task . . . coffee? butter pecan? strawberry cheesecake? Unfortunately, I love it all. ha.
