Monday Mix-ins

I can't believe we are already 9 weeks in to 2011!
Follow along with Mara with your small resolutions for the week!
Week 9
1. Keep up with weight watchers each day. I have been doing really great so far and I enjoy putting my numbers in. Spencer and I even bought a brand new scale tonight so that I can start doing weigh-ins! WOOHOO!
2. Try to make it to a Zumba class! I haven't been in FOREVER!...I think Thursday night just might be the night!

Where am I this week?

This week I am home! It's nice to be here in Kansas City, and I get to work only about 20 minutes from home all week! I spent the day snuggling with the puppies, and I do enjoy snuggling with the mister at night! We spent the weekend cleaning and getting things in order so I could actually relax while i'm here. Does anyone else have a problem of not being able to enjoy themselves and do nothing if there is dust on the floor? We also watched some new TV and movies this weekend.

What am I watching?
We started watching Reaper this weekend! It just came out on Netflix Instant and it's HILARIOUS! The show is all about a young man whose parents sold his soul to the devil when he was a baby...so he becomes a reaper AKA: Bounty Hunter! hehehe too funny! He goes around capturing evil souls and trapping them in "vessels" to go back to hell. Watch it! There are 2 seasons, but then it got canceled...sooo with all good shows, take your time and make it last!
We also saw 17 Again, which was FABULOUS! WAY funnier than it should have been. I LOVED it! Zac Efron was pretty cute, but I think my favorite person in it was the friend! and come on....the Star Wars bed was pretty awesome!

The rest of the weekend I spent playing with the puppies, celebrating my father-in-laws birthday with family and poppyseed cake and enjoying the beautiful weather that Kansas City got over the weekend! Friday morning I grabbed my Kindle, settled in to our lounge chair on the deck and read almost my entire book! (I had already started it)
"The Help" by Kathryn Stockett is AMAZING! It's beautifully written and left me feeling fantastic once I had finished it. History comes alive in this book, and makes me wish that authors taught History class and could illustrate it in such an amazing way to make it come alive, and make an impact. I highly recommend this book to everyone out there. The short summary is that it's written based upon stories told by African-American maids during segregation. An interesting perspective, and one that left me salivating over the pages, unable to tear my eyes away!
The Help is officially the 20th book I have read in 2011, and i'm 2/5 of the way toward my goal of 50 in 2011! not bad for only being 3 months into the year! My next book is, "A Discovery of Witches" by Deborah Harkness.
Spencer's mother has suggested it, and told me she has so-far read it three times from cover to cover. She is completely fascinated by it, and can't wait for me to read it. I think I might have to start it tonight. It was rated "Best of the month" from Amazon for February 2011, and I can't wait to delve in!

On a sidenote: Anyone who is doing Weight Watchers should pick-up a box of these little beauties!
Not a treat for everyday of course, but when a craving hits I find it best to not ignore it. I picked these up at the store Friday night and have had one. They are delicious! The perfect mix of raspberry with a dark chocolate coating. Not too sweet and just right! mmmmm so good! At 2 points each they are a treat I can afford every once in awhile!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to the week. I know it's going to be a difficult one, as news about the disaster in Japan is going to be heavy upon everyone's hearts. I can't even begin to imagine what they are experiencing right now and my only hope is that they will recover quickly, find peace with change and continue to perservere.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!
Jenni
