Moments from the past week

I'm back!
This past week I was working in KC from home all week.
It was magnificent, and I stepped away from the online word almost entirely to spend time with the husband.
♥  We saw some great movies at the theater. Sunday night has kind of become our unofficial date night, and we spend it going to dinner together and catching a flick. It is Officially Summer Movie Season! Last weekend we saw The Hangover II, and this weekend... X-Men First Class! Two VERY different movies, but two really great ones as well!
January Jones as Emma Frost.... Talk about reason to work out!
♥  We watched a lot of movies at home too! The Town (2 stars....not very great at all... The premise was good, the acting and script were AWFUL), Avatar (4 stars...We liked it, but it was kind of a grown-up version of FernGully), No Strings Attached (5 stars and SUPER cute), Salt (5 stars! Great movie!) and The Sorcerer's Apprentice (4 stars. Pretty cute!)
♥  On Friday we went out an bought a new camera. Our old one ended up breaking, and I like to have just a little point and shoot for going out. (Instead of hauling my DSLR around). We had to empty the battery life on it so we could condition it, so we took lots of photos of the dogs to play around with all it has to offer!

 My sweet little models :)

♥  I also did a lot of relaxing and reading this past week. I finished up the Dragongirl Tattoo series, and started on the Sookie Stackhouse series. It's the books that True Blood were based off of, and now i'm very curious to watch the tv show! I'm on the second book in the series right now. Most of the time I read outside, and work on my tan while doing it. So it's been nice to get a little bit darker. :)
♥  I ended up purchasing a few more of the items that have been sitting in my Etsy favorites cart for quite some time. Favorites that I know I would HATE if they disappeared and ran out of stock on them! I can't wait for them both to come in the mail soon!

This is a big week. Tomorrow morning I head out to St. Louis for 4 days for work, and today is my first day back at Grad School! I am taking an online course about Social Media, and i'm so excited to get done with school! To graduate I have to complete 12 classes, and this is my 7th! So only 5 more to go after this! Social Media should be a fun class, and I hope to find out some great new tools that I can pass along to my company to use! And I LOVE that I can take the class online!!! The rest of today is going to be dedicated to getting laundry done, packing my bags, printing out paperwork and getting ready to leave in the morning. Although, I do think ill take a break in a bit, get some reading done and enjoy some coffee I have placed in the fridge that is getting ice cold! I hope everyone has a great week!!!! It's nice to be back :)

Friday Funday!

It has been a FABULOUS day!
I woke up a little sore after doing yoga AND hitting the gym yesterday.
I ran my butt off on that elliptical and even had the guy next to me pacing himself off of me!
I'd speed up, and in the corner of my eye so would he!
I'd slow down and slowly he would too!
It was kind of cool being the person who holds the pace...for so long I would sprint and have to almost go down to a slow crawl to catch my breath, but now I hold a normal runners pace, sprint for a minute or two, and easily go back to my runners pace to slow down my heartrate a little. It feels good!
I hope you all are enjoying my little daily series...

... because I really enjoy writing about it each day, and it is really helping hold me accountable!
I am taking a small break for today, but I am going to make sure to do some ab work tonight.
Every little bit helps!

Other than the workouts, Spencer and I's passports came in today!!! YAY! I am so excited to go on our honeymoon! Now i've got the passport, the flipflips, some fun summer dresses...new swimsuit here I come! (Although, i'm waiting a few more weeks so I can hit the mega clearance at the beginning of fall!) I'm thinking of purchasing a little passport cover/book for it and i'm leaning toward this little cutie...

It's from Jenni20 on Etsy and I think its so cute! I'm still thinking about it, but I may have to order it pretty soon! I also just paid off the balance due on the honeymoon! WOOHOO! Its going to be soooo amazing!!!!!!

And for the best news of all! Our photographer sent me a message saying we were an EXTREMELY photogenic couple, and she has 300 photographs that were keepers from our engagement session!!! I seriously can not wait! The disk is ready tonight and I am heading down there in just a moment to go get it from her and see her adorably sweet little Boston Terrier.

And speaking of photos...i'll leave you with some of my favorites from the past few weeks.... of my puppies!!!! Aren't they just the most darling puppies around!?

The Little Things

I just love my little furballs!
Betty got a new soccer ball this weekend...

Mia decided that the deflated ball was now hers....
and guarded it from Betty!
Sooo Betty found another ball...

Suprisingly...YES she CAN  fit the whole thing in her mouth!

and just so you don't have to miss out on all the fun...
here's a video of the crazy outdoor action!!!

Now, time to do my p90x cardio, go swim some laps

PS- Thank you for your sweet comments yesterday. I am doing great!
The post was about me finally allowing myself to heal,
and that i'm focusing on what I have to offer and not my failures.
Sometimes all you need is to take a good cry, a moment to yourself and a reminder of what's out there waiting.

My babies are home!

Thank for so much for all of your prayers and
kind words over the past few days.
I can't tell you how nice it was to have messages popping up wishing us well and prayers for our puppies!

Betty came home on friday morning. She was a little groggy, and really confused all day long. I think she just kept worrying about her sister. Spencer left for the day and went to work so Betty and I spent the day watching episodes of Bones on Roku and cuddling in bed thinking about Mia. We got updates from the vet throughout the day about the amount of blood in her stool. They ran an x-ray to see if there was anything stuck in mia's stomach, a sonogram to make sure her vital organs were functioning properly and blood tests. They found out that her entire digestive tract was filled with bloody liquid.
At around 6:00 I called the vet and was told Mia was doing a little better but would need to stay at the vet overnight to monitor blood pressure. My mom called me and told me someone was coming to get me and betty and bring us to her house to eat something and relax for a little bit.(I hadn't eaten all day) I went over and had some bacon wrapped turkey medallions and potatoes off the grill and laughed as my nephew Collin ran through the sprinkles. It was the perfect way to relax a little. At 9:00 I called for an update on Mia and they said her blood pressure has stabilized but that they still needed to watch her and they were waiting for her to eat because she has been refusing to. They hoped to see a reduce in the flow of bloody diarhea and were starting her on vitamin k. Spencer got off work and came over to eat, and we headed home around 9. We laid around on the couches, cried a little and finally drifted off to sleep with Betty nestled between us.
I woke up to the phone ringing at 7am on saturday. the vet said that Mia was doing better but they wanted to check her liver levels to ensure that nothing was getting worse and she was on the road to recovery. We gave the go ahead and she called back an hour later saying that everything was looking good. Her appetite was up and she was standing in her cage and looking around. She told me that she was leaving for the afternoon but would be back around 4 and would check on Mia to see if she was stable enough to come home. Spencer went off to work and I told him I would keep him updated.

Betty and I again spent the day in bed. I was worried and kept glancing at the clock every few minutes. I called every couple of hours to check on her and they were hoping she would be able to come home. At 4:00 the vet called with the good news and my heart just about leaped from of my chest. I was able to come and get her! My dad drove out and picked me up and we headed to the vet's office. I signed paperwork and listened to the nurse as she told me that Mia was a doll and everyone had just loved her. 15 minutes or so later a nurse brought her out to me. She was groggy and didn't see me at first, but when she did she started licking me and loving on me. We carried her out with her 4 medications and headed home.
She has been sleeping a lot, but she does get spurts of energy and has been running around the yard when we take her outside to go potty. She runs tree to tree barkign at all of the birds and squirrels and is already showing progress from yesterday. She has the sparkle back in her eye and she just seems so happy and content. As I write this she is napping at my left side, while Betty snoozes on my right and I have never felt more blessed than I am right now. An angel was on my side on thursday night. If I had not found her for 10 more minutes, or the vet had been 10 minutes away I believe she would have died in my arms on the way to the hospital. Never in my life have I been so scared, and worried for days on end.

Thank you everyone.
Now, we're going to grill some burgers,
bake some cookies
and settle in for the night with our little babies.

Sleepy Afternoons

Kansas City, along with the rest of the U.S., has been a constant shade of gray over the past week. Storm clouds have darkened the sky and made every moment of the day a perfect time for a nap. How does one motivate themselves to get up and go when it seems like much more fun to lay on the couch and cuddle? Especially with these little bundles of fluff!

Darling, aren't they?
haha, ok i'm off to the gym now.
Hope everyone else is enjoying this lazy weather,
and hoping even more for the sun to show its face soon!!!

A welcome distraction

I have to write a paper for school and i'm having a little trouble...
There is a cute little monster who keeps peeking at me from beyond my screen.
It's making it very difficult to focus!

You see my problem?

Don't let this face fool you....

yes...the cute little puppy face off in the corner....

Monday night Spencer and I were sitting on the couch enjoying a fascinating episode of Heroes. We had just split a choxie peppermint candy bar. Truly a perfect night! The house was nice and quiet. The girls were outside "unloading their poop rockets" as Spencer likes to say it... and I was laying under my blanket and relaxing for the first time that day....

At commercial break Spencer got up to let the girls in. I heard the paws clattering against the linoleum like I always do as they come careening through the kitchen at top speed trying to reach the living room. In one single leap Betty had jumped up on the couch and was snuggling into the blanket on my lap. (She's a big snuggler). Mia ran over and grabbed a toy, and Betty watched her jealously. She slowly shifted her position on my lap to get a better look at the toy Mia was quickly munching on and I looked down at the blanket where Betty had just been laying. There was a little piece of chocolate on the blanket! I picked it up quickly before Betty could see it. (Chocolate is bad for dogs after all, and Betty is quick as a hoover when it comes to grabbing up snacks!)

...as soon as my fingers hit the chocolate I knew something was wrong..... immediately my face went from fascinated to puzzled as I looked at Spencer and said "Is this chocolate...or poop..." I lifted it to my nose to sniff it, and Betty bumped my arm at just that moment making my fingers bump into my nose mid-sniff......Yes.....

IT WAS POOP!!!

I promptly freaked out, jumping off the couch and running into the bathroom to scrub my nose as Spencer sat on the couch laughing his ass off! He then brought Betty into the bathroom, butt pointed in my direction and held her as I cleaned her up.... it was not Betty's proudest moment, and she hung her head in shame and tensed up her little body as the sprayer hit her in the butt with a warm blast of water....

....and Spencer just kept right on laughing.....

My dogs are models!

They're going to be famous!

Right now, as I sit here typing this...my girls are getting photographed for Hallmark! :) If they do a good job then the photos will be used for greeting card, or anything else they would like to put their cute little faces on!
To prepare, Spencer and I gave them both baths last night so they smelled nice and pretty, and then we blow-dried Mia so her hair was nice and soft. Betty we didn't have to...she's kind of like a penguin and the water just beads off. :)
After they were done they were both really worked up and excited! So they had some bear-fight time on the bed....
We don't need tv with entertainment like this.....

....and this next one is my favorite! Betty is no holds barred when it comes to wrestling!!!

Yeah, they are paying for their kibble now! :)

The First Snow!

There has been a lot of activity around the house tonight! We got our first snow of the season! A nice layer of white powder slowly covered the grass tonight and the girls and I patiently waited for Spencer to get home so we could all go play in it for the first time!

The girls were very curious!

When Spencer got home we got them bundled up in their new matching sweaters...

...and then it was time to play!

They were a little cautious at first...

but they are quick learners!

Mia ran and played as fast as she could!

Betty liked chasing snowballs! But, she couldn't figure out where they all went when they hit the ground!

She got a very cold noise from all the sniffing and decided it was time we should all go inside, so she led the way and we all followed.

Overall the girls LOVED the snow, and I can't wait for the next snowfall when it's a little deeper!!!

~XOXO~
