My babies are home!

Thank for so much for all of your prayers and
kind words over the past few days.
I can't tell you how nice it was to have messages popping up wishing us well and prayers for our puppies!

Betty came home on friday morning. She was a little groggy, and really confused all day long. I think she just kept worrying about her sister. Spencer left for the day and went to work so Betty and I spent the day watching episodes of Bones on Roku and cuddling in bed thinking about Mia. We got updates from the vet throughout the day about the amount of blood in her stool. They ran an x-ray to see if there was anything stuck in mia's stomach, a sonogram to make sure her vital organs were functioning properly and blood tests. They found out that her entire digestive tract was filled with bloody liquid.
At around 6:00 I called the vet and was told Mia was doing a little better but would need to stay at the vet overnight to monitor blood pressure. My mom called me and told me someone was coming to get me and betty and bring us to her house to eat something and relax for a little bit.(I hadn't eaten all day) I went over and had some bacon wrapped turkey medallions and potatoes off the grill and laughed as my nephew Collin ran through the sprinkles. It was the perfect way to relax a little. At 9:00 I called for an update on Mia and they said her blood pressure has stabilized but that they still needed to watch her and they were waiting for her to eat because she has been refusing to. They hoped to see a reduce in the flow of bloody diarhea and were starting her on vitamin k. Spencer got off work and came over to eat, and we headed home around 9. We laid around on the couches, cried a little and finally drifted off to sleep with Betty nestled between us.
I woke up to the phone ringing at 7am on saturday. the vet said that Mia was doing better but they wanted to check her liver levels to ensure that nothing was getting worse and she was on the road to recovery. We gave the go ahead and she called back an hour later saying that everything was looking good. Her appetite was up and she was standing in her cage and looking around. She told me that she was leaving for the afternoon but would be back around 4 and would check on Mia to see if she was stable enough to come home. Spencer went off to work and I told him I would keep him updated.

Betty and I again spent the day in bed. I was worried and kept glancing at the clock every few minutes. I called every couple of hours to check on her and they were hoping she would be able to come home. At 4:00 the vet called with the good news and my heart just about leaped from of my chest. I was able to come and get her! My dad drove out and picked me up and we headed to the vet's office. I signed paperwork and listened to the nurse as she told me that Mia was a doll and everyone had just loved her. 15 minutes or so later a nurse brought her out to me. She was groggy and didn't see me at first, but when she did she started licking me and loving on me. We carried her out with her 4 medications and headed home.
She has been sleeping a lot, but she does get spurts of energy and has been running around the yard when we take her outside to go potty. She runs tree to tree barkign at all of the birds and squirrels and is already showing progress from yesterday. She has the sparkle back in her eye and she just seems so happy and content. As I write this she is napping at my left side, while Betty snoozes on my right and I have never felt more blessed than I am right now. An angel was on my side on thursday night. If I had not found her for 10 more minutes, or the vet had been 10 minutes away I believe she would have died in my arms on the way to the hospital. Never in my life have I been so scared, and worried for days on end.

Thank you everyone.
Now, we're going to grill some burgers,
bake some cookies
and settle in for the night with our little babies.

I cannot tell you how relieved I am to be reading this post. Yzerman got very sick a few years ago and I almost lost him... and I know how you've been feeling. My heart ached... and I am so glad your story has a happy ending. Cuddle those little pups like crazy tonight!!!
