Geek Chic. It's not all about the fashion.

I did not watch the Golden Globes last night. I get bored with awards shows, and I know that it will be easy enough to catch the re-caps after the show. Anything worth repeating will instantly be on twitter, facebook and youtube within minutes anyways! I did however check the E! application on my new G4 last night... I saw some dresses (nothing too jaw-dropping). I suppose my take on good fashion is different than most, because what some people are calling stunning, I find hideous!
Number one culprit, January Jones.
Sure she has a gorgeous figure, and the color looks stunning on her with her flaxen locks and scarlet lips...but hello!? Bondage much? Put this dress in black, give her a whip and she is every creepy comic book lovers fantasy woman. And since I already took it there...I think her boobs look AWFUL. They are strapped in with nowhere to go. Many may disagree, but I give a big thumbs down on this look.

But I won't say anything more on the fashion, because anything worth saying has already been said. What drew my attention more was the list of quotes from throughout the night. I have to say my favorite quote of all, and the one going on my Facebook page, was from Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory...

"To be geeky about anything is to feel passionately about it... to absorb
yourself with it. And I think that's a really attractive trait in somebody,
and also very necessary to be successful at something."

I just simply adore everything about this, and I love it. My husband is a geek, and I love him for it. He is fascinated by art, mobile communications, music and music mastering... He has a passion, and a drive to always learn more or have that interesting off-the-wall fact. We challenge one another to use large vocabulary. We are Geeks...but its those things that also make us more interesting people, and the people that each of us love.

Now I really want to represent and go buy this....

Totally red carpet worthy, right?

Today I am working from home as my first day at my new job. Cup of coffee, cuddling puppies and my laptop ready to receive emails. Pretty fantastic first day! Sadly, hubby is leaving soon to head to work and I will miss him very much. Good thing I have a fantastic line-up to keep me company tonight!
An all new episode!
A weekly obsession...
A new favorite. I can't believe I didn't watch the first season!
I hope everyone has a fabulous day off today, and to those who don't I hope you get out soon and can go relax at home! Best wishes and Happy Martin Luther King Day everyone!!!

We Danced, We loved, We Laughed

Last night was Spencer and I's first dance class!
We weren't too shabby for having never danced together in our lives. Although, we do have one small problem... He keeps time by counting the beat in music...I keep time by the feel of the music...sooo we're going to have to find a happy medium. :) Overall it was a lot of fun, and we will be practicing each night for at least 10 minutes so as not to forget the steps! We learned the rumba last night, and next Tuesday will be the fox trot!

Today i'm relaxing a bit. Allergies hit me hard and I have felt a little out of it. I have my first dress fitting today at 5 though!! After I get back I think I might just have to hit the gym for an hour or so, get in a good sweat and then come home to see who made it into the final 4 on America's Got Talent! I'm hoping for...
 Michael Grimm
 Fighting Gravity
 Prince Poppycock ....
and I know it will be little Jackie Evancho....
but I think her future lies some other place than the Vegas stage...
like singing for the queen, or headlining at Carnegie Hall!
so I kind of hope it will be....
Studio One Young Beast Society...I mean...those kids can DANCE!
hmmm guess we'll have to wait and find out!!!
Also....we have a first night for season premieres!!!
Tonight we will see....
A new cycle of America's Next Top Model!!!
and.....
Terriers!
Which I have to admit...I'm really curious about!

Not a lot else going on. Just looking for work, trying to get myself to the gym...if these allergies would ever go away.... and oh yeah! Spencer and I are throwing a pirate themed beer shower this friday!
So tomorrow and friday I will be clenaing the house, planning our costumes and tracking down some skull & crossbone bandanas for the puppies to wear :)
Well I best be out!

Shocker Sunday!

SPOILER ALERT- DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES AND BROTHERS & SISTERS....

Oh my goodness! I just finished watching my sunday night shows and I am in shock! Seriously?! That's how you are going to end it?! With no new episodes until 2010?!

Who survived? Who didn't? Surely they can't have a show without Bree...... I am kind of surprised they killed off the blackmailer that quick though! and with a plane to the gut no less! ....then again....maybe she survives!
PS-One day I hope to look that good while cleaning the house. haha. My cleaning wardrobe usually consists of unwashed hair and sweatpants... Spencer is one lucky guy!

I was just recovering from the shock of what happened, and then Brothers and Sisters hit me with a second blow!!!!!!

It was an emotional roller coaster! I cried and smiled with the baby's heartbeat, I cried when Robert talked to Kitty about marriage, My heart caught in my throat with her startling news, I shrieked when the little boy got hit by the car and I cried again when Rebecca was confronted by Justin and he admitted to his feelings! Then it was magic! A beautiful wedding on the beach, a picture perfect wedding...Kitty reading a beautiful poem...and then....WTF! What is going to happen to Kitty? Will they ever say "I do"?

DAMN YOU ABC!!!!! Now all I can think about is 2010 and my shows being back on!

What are your thoughts? Who died? Who lived? Will the marriage ever happen, and how?!

I wish it were still the weekend....

Friday I left work a little early because our new fridge was being delivered! They came and installed the new fridge, but to my dismay couldn’t take the old one! I had 2 fridges in my kitchen! I immediately posted to Craigslist with photos and ended up selling it to a girl on Saturday morning. I was so relieved! I also did a Senior Photoshoot Saturday morning and got some GREAT photos! I’m in the editing process right now but hopefully it won’t take me too terribly long to catch up! Saturday I also decided to sell the air conditioning unit from our backroom. Our backroom is a converted room that used to be a screened-in porch so it gets pretty hot back there. Last week Spencer ran air conditioning though and now its almost kind of cold! A young man who just moved to KC bought the air conditioner Sunday afternoon and seemed to be pretty happy with his purchase. :)

In addition to photographs and selling things I also watched a LOT of Lost. It’s such a great show and I am soooo hooked! I’m up to the 3rd season now but from here on out I have to watch them with Spencer since he has only seen the first 2 seasons. ☺

We also found our bedroom furniture! Last time I had looked at the Ikea website everything they had available online was uber modern and not really in my taste. When I looked again on Friday night I completely changed my mind! They had a lot more available and we ended up finding an entire system for our bedroom! All in black-brown we found a tall 2-door standing wardrobe, 2 dressers we will stack, a vanity and a tall 1-door wardrobe. I can’t wait to get everything!

Thursday of this week we are getting our floors re-finished FINALLY! We are going to stay at my moms house for the weekend while everything gets done. I’m actually really excited for it! My sister, brother-in-law and grandma are all coming into town as well for my sisters birthday and so all of us will be at moms house! I think it should be a lot of fun and a nice weekend of family topped off with going home to new flooring! ☺

My only negative point right now is that it’s a rainy dreary Monday and I really wish I was still at home lying in bed. ☺ I love sleeping in the rain.
